Feature & Follow #9

Feature & Follow is a weekly meme hosted by Parajunkee and Alison Can Read. Basically, what you do is follow me, comment, and I'll follow back. Awesome, right?

This week's features are Ramblings of a Coffee Addicted Writer and Paranormal Romance.

Q: Do you mind books with similar ideas to other book? Similar concepts, backgrounds, retellings, and pulled-to-publish fanfics?
A: Yes, I do mind. The whole time I would be like, "Bitch, you can't steal this idea. IT'S NOT YOURS. MY GOODNESS." That's basically me. I don't mind retellings or fanfics. I love those actually. Fanfics are always have horrible grammar, fluffy, or just downright funny. I used to write fanfics a few years ago and I loved them :)

  1. I don't know, I love fanfics, but they don't necessarily have bad grammar, or are full of fluff. It definitely depends on the fandom and writer. I have problems with them getting published, though. *g* And yeah, I kinda agree with your answer: If something really is basically stolen from another author, then I get darn mad!

  2. I don't really mind when books are similar but if it's pretty much a copy of the other book then that's different. Old follower :)

  3. Hopping through. I love fanfic, although I agree most of it has horrible grammar. Sometimes you find a winner though.

  6. I hate it when some authors blatantly steal ideas directly from other books!

  7. It's interesting to see everyone's response on this one. While I do mind if another author completely rips off someone elses material I don't mind them using the same idea. Pretty much all books, in my opinion at least, are based off of other peoples ideas. I explain it more in my post (ignore the crazy link, I hit post before I added my post title.)

  8. Unoriginality makes me want to bang my head against the wall and even more when I've read the same idea over and over and over.

P.S. I saw that you'r reading The Assassins Curse! I've been wanting to read that for ages can't wait to hear your thoughts on it :D
